Bright and early this mornig we were at the gates of Grant's Farm. It was an absolutely gorgeous morning and we wanted to make sure we were able to beat the crowds.
The tram ride is always so much fun. Today felt a little bit different. For one thing we didn't bring a stroller. I think this marked our first official outing without a stroller or baby wearing device ever. It felt very strange. The second thing I noticed was that Max actually paid attention to what the tour guide was saying on the drive. When we passed the fancy gates he was all excited to tell me that the antlers on the statues were real. As the tram entered the park all of the animals were there to greet us - including these giant cows! Their horns were huge!
Our first stop was to feed the goats. All five of us entered and there were no tears from anyone! My boys had a great time feeding these sweet little creatures.
Will was a pro this year and didn't want any help at all. Even Jack got in on the action - and he took his role very seriously!
At one point he was feeding a goat all by himself and another goat came up behind him and started licking his neck. Jack thought was the funniest thing ever.
There was a new option this year - you could feed ice cream cones full of food to these adult goats. The kids - and Brian - got a huge kick out of it. The squeals of laughter when the goat took the cone were just adorable.
While we were there we attended the animal encounters show. At one point in the show there was a Macaw that could add. He had a little tray of numbers up on stage and would knock down the answer to a question from the audience. Max was thrilled to be selected to come up with a math problem for this amazing bird. He even mentioned it again tonight :)
Hopefully we have more days with this type of weather so we can have lots more fun family adventures!
