One Month Check Up

Will and I headed to the doctor on Monday. I always have such anticipation as they wheel in the scale. Is my little guy growing the way he should? Is nursing working out for us? Am I giving him what he needs? The sad thing is that I'm much more laid back about things this time around, so you can only imagine my stress every time Max was weighed in. . .

It turns out I had no need to be worried. Will has surpassed all hopes for his growth. Considering he was born on the small side, 6lb 9oz - 20th percentile, he has more than made up for it. He now tips the scale at 9lb 12oz and has already moved up to the 50th percentile. I guess things are going well! The doctor was very happy with this gain and so was I! He has also grown two inches and is now 21 1/2 inches long. I thought he seemed bigger, but when I see him every day it is always tough to judge. Now I'm happy I have a little reassurance that things are going well.

Max is at day care for this week and next. Then after that the three of us will be spending the rest of our summer together. I have to admit I'm slightly worried about being home by myself with a three year old and a six week old all day. As hard as it is to be a working mom, I really don 't know how all of the stay at home moms do it! I think I need to find some fun outings to plan to keep our days from dragging on. Hopefully mother nature is getting all the rain out of her system now so that when I have Max we can spend time outside.

One Month Old

Wow, I can't believe Will has been a part of our lives for a whole month already. Time is going so quickly. He is getting so big - I'm shocked at how different he looks now! I think I forgot how quickly babies change, it is incredible. Will had a bit of a rash at three weeks so I had to take him to the doctor. He weighed in at 8 lb 7 oz! I was shocked, that is almost two pounds more than his birth weight. We head to the doctor for his one month check up on Monday, so I'm excited to see how much he weighs now.

Will is smiling a few times a day now. I swear God purpusly give babies the ability to smile just when their sleep deprived mommies don't think they can do any more. I can be utterly exhausted and just able to function and all it takes is a smile from Will and I feel like I can do anything.

I remember when we first had to send Max to daycare. He refused the bottle for days! It was so stressful - he was only eating an ounce or two the entire day! In order to not face this same problem we are going to try to give Will bottles on a fairly regular basis. Daddy gave Will his first bottle just the other night. It was too cute to watch. Now we just need to stick to the plan of giving a bottle - I swear nursing is just so much easier!

I also have to put in this pictures of Max on his new bike - Daddy is so proud, he found it at a garage sale for $5. Nonna took Max to Children's Hospital to get a helmet so Max is all ready for the road! He doesn't quite have the hang of it yet. He keeps wanting to pedal backwards, which is actually the brake so that doesn't work out too well. He will get the hang of it, and in the meantime he looks pretty darn cute practicing!

PInk Eye?!?

How does this perfect little two week old - that hasn't been out in public - get pink eye!? I feel like an awful mommy! We have been getting a bit stir crazy so we have made trips in the car - the drive through bank, the carpet store where Nonna ran inside, Carter's where mommy ran inside. . . The only time he has gotten out of the car was at Nonna's house and at Max's therapy - we were the only ones there! Again, how does this happen? Hopefully the eye drops the doctor prescribed will do the trick and our little man will back to 100% soon, and daddy can quit singing Sleep With One Eye Open. Luckily it doesn't seem to be bothering Will too much, so I guess that makes me feel a little bit better.

On a side note, I just have to throw in this picture of Max. He is such a little comedian! Max and Brian went to Trader Joe's and Max thought he would be funny and put the bag on his head. It was all fun and games until he bumped his head on the counter.

Our Boys

Does it get any cuter than this? Max was all excited. He said "Baby Will open eyes, see Max!" We are so lucky!
